First National Benefits Aka ripoff Grant Rip Off Scam Canada India

On June 23 I was contact by First National Benefits. The caller informed me that I would receive a government grant for $25,000. It sounded good, but unbelievable. He went on to say that he had me as (gave my name) at (gave my address which was close but incorrect) and your home number is (gave me a number which was my work number). I am sure this information came from a form I filled out on the Internet to earn extra money. I can't recall what form. The caller then said that he needed my bank account number and did not need my routing number to deposit the funds into the account. I was sitting at my computer and decided to type in the company name into Google. It immediately gave me the RipOff site. I allowed the caller to go on without informing him. He then put me on to a recording that asked me to state my name, address and bank account number to charge a one time fee of $29.95 to get the grant money. I did not give him my bank account number or routing number.

On June 29, my bank account was charged $29.95. When I viewed the copy of the check, it showed the Pay to the Order Of as First National Benefits. It had my correct name, but it was missing part of my address. It did not have the correct routing number for my bank account. And, my bank account number was hand written. I immediately called the bank. My first question was how could this company take money out of my account without the correct address, the correct routing number and who wrote in the account number. I told the person on the line that I did not give this company my bank account information. And, that my biggest concerned was how they could take money out without my bank account information and why would someone write in my account number, did it get written in at the bank? She informed me that she did not know and transferred me to the fraud department. I explained the same thing to that person who told me to block my account, open a new account, and close this account so that the company could not take any more money. The bank put the money back into my account and started an investigation.

Hang up on these people immediately. Don't give them a minute of your time. They will try to treat you and before you know it you will be out of money and not know how or why.
