Ripoff Internet

My complaint regarding AUI concerns bait and switch tactics. When I first made contact with the admissions department, I explained that I was a handicapped nontraditional student. I was interested in finishing my BA but would not be entering the workforce upon graduation. With this in mind, student loans that could not be repaid were not an option for me. I would require heavy grants/scholarshipping.

I was advised, by the sales rep., that this was no problem. Full scholarshipping could/would be arranged. I went through the entire enrollment and orientation process. I purchased voice activated software to dictate my paperwork with. I spent untold hours dictating to the program to get it up and running.

My classes were to begin on Monday of this week. On the 31st of December I checked with Financial Aid concerning the status of my aid package. I was advised that I had a tiny Pell grant, a partial Stafford Loan, and approx. $10,000.00 in unmet need. I was further advised that I had to arrange for the additional $10,000.00 privately.

One gal actually laughed at me and said that I could not be a serious student if I was unwilling to take out a loan. I immediately sent an email to the admissions' sales rep., informing him that I would not be attending classes and sent a copy to everyone who had contacted me in the last two months.

Shortly thereafter, I received notice that my enrollment had been terminated. Thank goodness. Funny, the next day I received another computer generated email asking me to contact them in order for me to get back into school.

My experience was unprofessional at best.
