For the past few months, we have been receiving phone calls from NCL/NCO Financial in their attempt to collect a debt, or debts. They do not identify who they are calling for, what the account is, even who the company is, when they leave their voice mails... Only a call-back number. WE have called the number, and they look up our phone number then ask for one of two women.
We continue to explain that the phone number has been ours for over a year, and we do not know anything about the people they are calling for. On one phone call a month ago, they said they would remove our numbers from their files. Obviously they have not... Today, my husband was on the phone with them for 40 minutes, being routed to three different people. When he threatened to contact an attorney about them, the employee hung up on him.
Is there anything we can do to stop NCL/NCO's calls? WE have received phone calls from two other companies, also looking for random women, but they were very polite and helpful... And so far have not called back. (I am wondering if there is some person running an identity theft scam, since the collection calls ask for a variety of women's names. We've even checked our credit to make sure nothing strange is coming up on our credit as a result.)
