Complaint / Review
NCO Financial
Phone harrassment

Heads up, fellow members:
Unless NCO Financial can put it in writing, they have no way of legally collecting the debt. No court will grant them a garnishment or any other legal claim against a person without written proof of the debt.

Having worked in consumer and corporate credit and collections for 15 years, I have kept up to date on the Fair Debt and Collection Protection Act. I have kept all my bills, statements, and receipts for the past 10 years, for just such a situation as having to deal with a predatory collector. If there is a class-action suit, let me know. The only way to stop them is to bankrupt them.

Thank you to complaint and the other members for the heads up on NCO Financial. They have been leaving voicemails on my cell phone and hang up calls on my land line voice mail for the past 3 weeks. Now I have an idea of what I'm dealing with.

As I said, they have been calling for the past 3 weeks. Thanks to Caller ID, I don't answer calls from 800 numbers. My original theory was an identity theft type issue we had with a collection agency out of Wisconsin about 6 months ago. They were calling my cell phone to collect on a debt from a woman I never heard of. I tried to explain to the collector that she had a wrong number, but she became hostile. A call to my state AG's office and the FTC ended those calls that day.

From what I've read from the other members' reports, NCO could be calling me for either:
a) That ID theft thing I thought I dealt with 6 months ago
b) Our old home loan that was through Chase, which we paid off three years ago when we re-financed.
C) An old Chase credit card debt that we paid off with the re-fi
d) Student loans that are in deferment
e) Old medical bills that were paid off with the re-fi

I will check the postings and keep you updated.
