Do not go to firestone!
I have over 10 year recent experience as a Manager of one of the major car dealerships in Boston. My wife’s car needed new rear pads and resurfacing of the rotors. I came across a coupon for $99.99 and decided to check it out. The brake pads they use were OK brand. I took the car to Firestone Complete Auto Care Service and Repair Center, located at 40 Arsenal St in Watertown, MA and asked them specifically to concentrate on the rear brakes. After 30 minutes wait one of the guys took the car for 15 minute road test (joy ride) and then opened the hood and removed the front wheels before he even looked at the rear axle. It was clear that they were looking for more work and I can understand that. What I do not understand is why I was told that I need new rear rotors. I asked them if they measured the ware of the rotors and if so, what the measurements are. Apparently the rotor ware was still within the manufacturer’s limits but because there was some rust (this is normal for rotors) they did not want to do it. I was offered 1). Set of new rotors (made in China) for more money that I could buy Brembo rotors from ShopCashBackProgram.com (… and get Cash Back) or 2). To install pads only with the old rotors without resurfacing. I was not happy, but the guy refused to do the resurfacing and then I almost agreed to replace the rotors. Good thing I asked for the final bill before they begin because it came out $50-$60 higher than the $99.99 special the price of the rotors. According to Firestone $99.99 was good for most vehicles but not for my wife’s Honda Accord, one of the most popular and simple vehicles on the road today. When I found out that they are playing cheap games with the clients I asked them to put the car together, so I can get out of there and never come back. From this point on the car was sitting on the lift for another 20-30 minutes with no one around it before they put the tires back on.
What a waist if time!
Never again!
