Sears Think Twice About Sears -Run like hell -Heat Pump, Lies, Runaround, Contractor install, Sales Pitch

I don't have a blatant in your face ripoff to report. Yet.

I just have a house full of mold, a prematurely rusted HVAC, water damage to several rooms in the house, the royal runaround from SEARS, snippy employes, managers that don't call back, and do nothing, pass the buck responses.

As the title says. You should think twice about Sears then run like hell.

Do your own due diligence. See what Sears employees say about the company, the scams, the warranty, the management. Search "Sears Home improvement scams"... Etc.

We had a Carrier System that worked well but the a frame was rusting and was in the final years of its life. So it still had two years left at least. MY husband got smooth talked by a slick salesman to replace our unit for an allegedly MORE energy efficient unit that qualified for a Federal tax rebate and $400 cash back. If we buy a five year master protection agreement.

My husband really wanted a Carrier. (something with quality we liked).. But he was sweet talked into something else... Along with a Master protection agreement that allegedly would give us a FREE new unit... So long as we kept paying for such master protection plan. UH HUH.inSERT professional skepticism here.

I was not involved in any of the slick sales talk.

Bottom line?
I would never ever in a million years recommend Sears.

I cannot give you a ton of specifics... Yet.
I can only tell you I was leery... And it gets worse by the day.

SEARS does not have people. They hire a contractor to install.
Sears is responsive until you sign... Then it is hard as hell to get anyone.
Sears could not produce a MASTER PROTECTION agreement that allegedly said all those wonderful things. We were promised by the slick Salesman. Sears would not send the release of lien even though we paid immediately and in advance.

Master Protection? $1292.
Supposed to be a FIVE year protection. SEARS REFUSED to come out in year one. Said "We do not do that". (Unit is under warranty and of course THAT is a Different department.).

Oh yeah you will hear "That is a different department" a lot.

So we had water leak. And they were supposed to do semi-annual servicing and maintenace..

AH. But they have no folks that can do maintenance... Ha ha ha ha ha... You won;t beleive this. But that is a different department.

uh. Have any issues with the install? Have to file a claim with an external company.

Does Sears =do any follow-up for maintenance? OH no you call and they may come out. But they wont fix anything. Because that is another department.

I HONESTLY feel we were duped into buying an inferior system... And duped into thinking that was ok because we had a warranty that covered a free unit.

My first question was uh how much is the warranty after five years. SEARS could not answer that.

If you have any issues they say that is another department. Or file a claim.

Management does not return calls even though they say they will.

They do pester you and are nice long enough to get a good feedback..

Then it is adios.

The employees are all uncaring, pass the buck, rude folks. They like to tell you you called the wrong department. You failed to ask for this or that. They sell you garbage, lie about it and then are rude when you expect anything.

The unit we were sold had a five year expected life anyway. The $1292 we paid we will never see. It was an overpriced service agreement not worth more than a couple hundred bucks. Not a master protection agreement.

SEARS does NOT have the staff to repair anything and in my opinion thus would never repair anything.

What I am saying is. You are not buying what you think you are buying. This is NOT SEARS as you and I knew it. It is some loosely affiliated front office with high pressure sales pitch... And nothing to back it up.

They are RUDE to clients.

I would never ever in a million years recommend Sears Home Improvement.

I have a houseful of MOLD and water damage... From water under the intake plenum. And you guessed it..

1) Sears Management did not call back. Like they said.
2) I got the royal runaround and employees were sarcastic.
3) I KNOW they wont do crap.
4) they have no employees who can fix it. Because they contract real work out
5) They said I called the wrong department... Even though their service person was here... It is up to me to figure out where I need to call and do it.

I asked them to simply supply the duct board & mastic and I would hire a contractor to install it. Nope.

I have mold in my house... And they have not done anything for two weeks. Now I got to start again and call somewhere else... Blah blah blah.

I'll let YOU know to THINK TWICE about SEARS. And maybe the will lose enough business.

I'm cleaning up the mold MYSELF... And moving on.

I'm cleaning up the water damage from their defective and incorrect system... And I'll hire someone to redo the duct in the intake plenum and build a secondary water retention system.

Just be careful... Guys. Don't get sucked into the name Sears. Take care.
