Stainsafe
Ripoff

I was surprised (but not too surprised) to find just how many people are getting ripped off by Stainsafe. I read the most recent post and it was literally deja vu!

I too reported a claim stating that a part of the side panel of my coffee table had split off due to a poor adhesive. At that same time, I inspected the table a bit closer and noticed that it had a minor water stain. I went on to inspect my two end tables as they are a matching set and found that the adhesive was starting to come undone on them as well, so I called and made the claim.

I stated that the claim on the end tables was more prevenatative than anything. The customer service representative was rude, however my claim was filed. I was told to call back in two weeks if I didn't hear back from them, which I didn't so I called two weeks later. This representative was actually rather polite and said that she would look into it and I should expect to hear back shortly, which I didn't.

I called a week later and was informed that my claim was denied because I didn't report the damage within 5 days, which I went on to say was B.S.! I too asked to talk to a supervisor and was told that none were on staff and that one would call me back within 24 to 48 hours. A supervisor called back about 3 hours later, but was of no help. She tried to explain that only one claim can be made at a time, as it would be impossible for multiple "incidents" to occur within 5 days.

I explained that there really was no defining "incident" with the exception of the coffee table panel coming off, and the rest were simply poor workmanship, that I had just noticed. I argued that the benefit of the doubt should go to the customer who paid for the warranty in cases where there really is no proof of when the incident occured. I went on to say that I didn't really care if they fixed the end tables, as it was more preventative and that I would be happy if they just fixed my coffee table which was the main and primary claim. She said that they could not do that. I went on to say that I would just file another claim on the end tables when the side panels eventually fell off, and she said that they would deny that as well.

This is when I stumbled upon this site, and found the owner's phone number posted a few posts down. It was 8pm on the west coast, and as I found out later, he does in fact live in FL, so it was 11 pm his time. He was LIVID, but nonetheless listened to my rant, and went off on his own. At the end of a 20 minute conversation absolutely nothing was resolved. He stated he would look into the claim, which he must have, because someone called me from stainsafe today and reiterated that my claim was denied and I should expect to get a letter.

To sum things up Stainsafe is the biggest SCAM and complete RIPOFF I have ever seen. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT ever buy a service contract from these people.

On a positive note, I did end up calling the Levitz store that I purchased the furniture from and was credited back my warranty cost for those three items and told to have them call stainsafe themselves in the future to make any claims on the other furniture I bought. So I guess at least Levitz is honest, but Stainsafe are a bunch of crooks. The owner sounds like some fat, rich a-hole from New Jersey that started a biz in FL and tries to dress like Don Johnson in Miami Vice. If you read this, why don't you take some accountability for your own business you idiot scumbag? You have my number, so call me anytime.
