Rip-off! Scam! Movers refuse to pay loss claim for items they lost

We moved from Virginia to Nevada. The primary rip-off occurred when the driver would not use my inventory check off or sign it, or permit me to go make a zerox, he was in too big a hurry (It was snowing and he had to get back to Utah for another load). So, stupid me, I signed the delivery sheets giving the driver a list of the missing items. Within a week we located all but 3 boxes and miscellaneous items that had evidently been packed loose under one inventory number as 'garden tools'.

The claim was submitted for all breakage and lost items at cost replacement per the company instructions.
Prior to submitting the claim, the company representatives that had been informed what was missing had told me finally on two occasions that they "did not have a clue where our things were because no inventory had been done going into or out of storage.

Now that the company has the claim, they are denying responsiblity for any lost items since the driver completed his inventory forms to show everything was received. The company is now claiming of course that their inventory shows all items going into storage and also being loaded on the truck for delivery. I was never copied with what the driver submitted.

The damages are $10096.80 less $686.00 the company is offering as settlement, which has not been accepted. The company (Daryl Flosi) requested a copy of my inventory, the actual and ONLY original check off inventory, along with a statement of what happened. These inventory sheets were faxed to him with a cover statement and request for reconsideration on March 29. All of this information was subsequently faxed to the Agency Move Coordinator (Jerry Greenwood (202) 690-3320 on 4-1. I have a gut pain telling me that this is where things quit.
