Worldwide Moving Systems
Stole/lost our belongings - Fraud

My husband's mother recently passed away unexpectedly, so we were looking for a mover to transport her goods from Orange, VA to Aiken, SC and hold them in storage for 60 days. I contracted with Worldwide Moving Systems. This was a huge mistake. They have failed to deliver 31 boxes filled with my husband's belongings, along with an oriental rug, and various antiques. He is an only child and both of his parents have passed away. He is only 35 and was hoping to be able to have some of his family's memories in our home. I have never worked with a company who cared less about their customers. I have paid them $8452 to date and am missing many of our belongings. The only solution that Shahek, the owner offers is "file a claim with insurance". He has never once said he was sorry. I have no idea how this can happen, but would recommend that no one else do business with this organization. They have no issues with theft and fraud.

For more information, please see the timeline below.

11/22/07- Driver was supposed to arrive between 8-11am, arrived at 4:30pm. Paid $4000 by check. Was never given inventory of items or sent receipt. Requested twice.

11/23/07- Realtor called and said the house was left a disaster after the movers left. Great deal of trash, cigarette butts, damaged floors and walls. I pay $300 to fix house.

11/23/07- Call Worldwide to complain about the state of house. Told to "file a claim".

1/2/07- Faxed damage report of Virginia house and requested delivery on 1/20. No response.

1/5/07- Sent email, asking if fax was received and confirming delivery date. No response

1/9/07- Called to confirm delivery date - was told delivery would be w/in 10 business days of 1/20 (even though contract says 14 days)

1/17-19- Called daily to try to confirm delivery date. Was finally told it would be the following week.

1/22- 1/27- Called daily to try to confirm delivery date. Was told it would be the following week.

1/28- Confirmed that delivery would be 1/29.

1/29- Delivered some of the items (see below)- Pd $4452 by certified check.

*When they delivered the goods they did not give me the inventory sheets until the end, so I did not know how many things were missing. Also, many of the boxes did not have stickers on them, so I could not check vs. The inventory. I did tell them I thought we were missing boxes and I knew we were missing at least one rug. I was told that was all that was in the truck and I should call the office.

Since delivery, I called regularly to inquire as to our missing items. They said the items could still be in the storage facility. 2 weeks later we are told they are not there. No one can find our missing furniture and 31 boxes. How do you lose that much stuff? By the way, we have paid $8452 to date. All the owner, Shahek, can say is "file a claim with the insurance company". Not a single, I am very sorry, we will do everything we can to find your goods, no remorse at all. I am sick over the loss of our family heirlooms. I know they mean nothing to Shahek, but it is all my husband has left of his family.

Missing-

58 of 91 boxes listed on inventory were delivered (31 still MIA)
1- 8x8 oriental rug
2- marble tops to tables
1- antique corn-cobber
1- end table
1- table base
3- large portraits (2ftx3ft)- I would assume these would be in the boxes
24- dinner plates
At least 18 crystal glasses
Vacuum cleaner
All of my husband's and his mothers tax documents.
