I purchased a dinette set and rolltop desk from these guys the end of October or beginning of November. All was well until January 28. My wife was cleaning up after dinner and I was doing dishes when she screamed out loud! The finish on the dinette table top was coming off. All she did was wipe it with a damp sponge.
I immediately called Value City and they sent some one out on or about Febuary 7. He took pictures and said it looked like I spilled something on it and this was not the case I explained this too him and he said okay call in a couple of days. When I called back I spoke to the manager who said they were not responsible for the damage and I was. They would not give me a new table top nor would they give me a refund. They said they would try and fix it as a courtesy when the temperature in their warehouse reached a consistent 60 degrees. They said this may or may not work. So in the mean time I am stuck looking at this defective table and I am out the 600 bucks plus tax I paid for it.
I have written their corporate headquarters about this and have told them I will gladly pay for the desk but I refuse to pay for the table. Anything you can do to help will be appreciated.
