Envision Custom Homes has in no way been "custom." We were told that this home would have all the bells and whistles. We were supposed to sit down and go through what we wanted in our home. Our builder has not communicated with us and when it comes time to put things in he states that it is the standard package and wants to charge us extra for anything nicer. None of this was discussed with us.
Our bathrooms are not done correctly and our tile contractor can not do anything unless it is fixed. Our builder called them and told them that there was a Stop Work Order and that they were to leave. My builder is trying not to fix anything and just cover up the problems they have created. They are trying to get us to back out of buying the home so that they can sell it to someone who does not know that in the future if things are not done right they will have serious problems.
The ceilings in the home look terrible. You can see where the drywall sheets started and ended giving it a ripple effect. Envision says that this is normal and that when the lights are put up you won't notice it. Everyone else has told me that it needs to be fixed. I have been told that they did not put enough nails in the drywall and that in a couple of years the ceiling will probably start to sag.
We told the builder before signing any papers that we wanted a gas fireplace. When one was installed it was not gas. He said he did not have it written down anywhere and that it was to late to change it. The garage door opener and air conditionr are the cheapest on the market. He was supposed to put in a 1.5 HP opener and we have a 1/3 in there. They are trying to rip us off and are expecting us to fold because of the hassle that they have created. They have not been out there to inspect what they have contracted out to be done. The workmanship is very poor.
The lack of communication between Envision and ourselves is what has created this entire mess. They have been very forgetful and have left out information on the home so that in the end they think that we will settle for whatever they choose just to get the house finished so we can move in. My husband is determined to get things corrected, I on the other hand just as soon give the house back and start over. My 5 year old daughter is very excited about moving in and her heart would be broke if we gave up.
All in all, I am tired of hearing "this is an upgrade and will cost you more money." We should have sat down with him and went through every little thing before we signed our contract. We are very trusting people and have learned a very hard lesson. Please make sure that you check out your Contractor thoroughly and if you see that anyone has had any trouble with who you are going to choose that you seriously re-think your decision. No one deserves to be treated like this. Customer service means everything.
