My husband and I purchased a Kirby two years ago and have been paying 67.13 per month through Gold Pan Funding. The interest rate is outrageous!
We have been a month late only a couple times but have ALWAYS made it up. The invoice they have you send your payment in with states "if more than ten days late add an additional $10.00 charge to your payment".
Well, needless to say, the first time I was one frickin' month late they sent me the rudest most obnoxious, threatening letter
I have NEVER received from any finance company! Threatening to take me to court for $63.13!!? Your kidding me? By law, NO ONE can try to garnish your wages or sue you so long as you are still making payments and they are still cashing checks (which they have always done).
So, since I was treated unfairly, I have made it a point to NOT pay on time and we are currently one month late and paying each month the $67.13 PLUS the $10.00 late fee each month.
We are not the kind of people to NOT pay what we owe, but these people really pissed off the wrong person!
The way I see it is they are getting their money and the extra $10.00 for us being late (at least I am still honest on that one. I could just as well keep the $10).
I have had plenty of major credit cards in the past and current and I have NEVER heard of being threatened this way when you are late? So WHAT!
That's why the credit card companies charge late fees and/or interest so that if you are not making on time payments, they still get there money! I don't understand why they have a problem with this?! You would think they would WANT you to be late every month just to get their extra precious $10.00!
This isn't the end of it... When my husband and I recently applied for a home loan the credit report said we were in "collections" for the Kirby account! We were only one month late as of 1/03. BUT, the last time they reported the "collection" status was because of the first time we were late back in 2001!
We had already became current with the agreement not long after that and they failed to go back to the credit bureau and update the report from "collection" to "late". They are reporting inaccurately and I have had the bureau investigate the false reporting and Gold Pan even sent the credit bureau a copy of all the payments I have made including the late fee each month and the $300 payment we made back in 2001 to get caught up the first time (what morons, they included proof that we have been paying and only one month late)! When the home loan company looked at our credit report after I have disputed the false reporting, the credit bureau listed it as $0 balance!
What's even better is we were APPROVED for a home loan way over what we thought was possible! Now a BRAND NEW home is being built for us, not buying used. Take that! They tried to make us look soooo bad when really, they are the one's who look bad. They are not effecting our abilities to get ANYTHING we need or want in life! We refuse to work cooperatively with anyone who isn't treating us like a client should be treated, WE HIRED THEM, THEY DIDN'T HIRE US!!!
Kirby's distribution company here in Reno, NV should use another finance company who isn't unprofessional! I can say I will NEVER suggest anyone to buy a Kirby because the lack of business sense their distributors use in choosing professional finance companies. We would love to give back the vacuum and cancel the contract we currently have. We are tired of the verbal abuse and unprofessional attitude they reflect to their customers.
