In May a Kirby salesperson showed up at my door. It was approx. 9:00 at night. He proceeded to come in and show me how this vacuum worked. As time went by, and it was getting late, he drew up a contract and told me that I had 30 days to get out of it. It's now almost 11:30pm, and all I wanted was for this guy to leave. So I said ok, and he finally left. The price $1,740.00 with 24.68% interest if you didn't pay it all at once.
Well, as I got to thinking about it, I thought this was way too much. So I went on the internet to see how much I could get the same one for. The most expensive one was $700.00 less! So I decided to call them up to say I didn't want it.
This is 7 days later. I was informed at this time that I really only had 3 days to call! Boy! Was I mad. I told the guy on the other end that I was told 30 days, and they better come get it. His reply was "we are not going to come get it". I told him that I wasn't going to pay for it, and he was the one that had 3 days to come get it. He at that time told me, "I don't give a damn if you want it or not", "It's yours now", "and you can stick it up your a* for all I care". Then he proceeded to hang up. I was not only mad, but in shock that he would use such language.
I tried again the next day, twice, to call Kirby about this vacuum and the rude man. Again I was greeted with more abusive language, and "no" they weren't going to come get it. I even told them that I would bring it and drop it off. Which for me would mean a 5-6 hour drive. They told me I couldn't do that, and if I did I would have to pay for it anyway.
Well, it still sits in the box brand new. As of 9 days ago I received a summons from the Supreme Court for this Kirby vacuum. I have 20 days to respond. I would like to know if there is anyone out there who can help me. I don't have the money for this vacuum, or a lawyer! What gives these people the right to solicit your home so late at night, take advantage of you, and then lie to you at that. If this product is so great, then it should be able to sell itself honestly and at a fair price.
