After years of being a single parent and struggling to save for new furniture I was finally able to purchase a new livingroom suit from Ashley Furniture HomeStore. I had look at the store earlier and after selecting my purchase the company filed for bankruptcy and our local store closed. After being closed a couple of months the company was purchased out of receivership and reopened.
The sales lady was nice up to the point I actually wrote the check - then she walked away saying she had other customers to wait on and left me in the back of the store! I thought the very least is she could have walked me up front and made a "big" guesture of how thankful the company was for my business - would have been free and easy advertising to those walking in the door.
I set up deliver for my furniture on a Friday afternoon after 1:00 due to the fact I work during the week and not home until after 6:00 P.M. A couple of days before delivery I was notified from the home office in Matthews, North Carolina of the date and time of my delivery - a three hour window on a Friday morning - which was not acceptable as I work during the week. After a discussion with the drive he wanted to set it for the next a 3 hour window that Saturday which did not suit as I had already made plans to be out of town. I had to ask for his supervisor who assured me they could reshcedule for the following Saturday and gave me a time frame of 9 - 12 A.M.
Well you can imagine what I was feeling when the appointed Saturday came around and by 10:30 my furniture had not arrived. I had thoughts my furniture still being in the warehouse in North Carolina! I called the customer care number and was told my "window" of delivery was 11:30-1:30! So here I was going to have to waste an entire morning waiting on a delivery which was promised earlier! After a discussion with the delivery driver he would try and get the furniture to me by 12:00 A.M. - as you can imagine the furniture did not show up until 12:40 and the company offered nothing by way of apology for screwing up my day!
I was disillusioned with the company that when I got ready to make my next big purchase (a dinning room table and chairs) I went to the nearest competitior - Rooms To Go - my furniture is scheduled to arrive next Saturday - let's see how they compare to Ahsley Furniture HomeStore.
My advice to consumers - skip the delivery fee drive to Matthews and get your own furniture - set your own time and don't depend on this company. With the customer service I was given this company will be back in bankruptcy soon.
