About 3 months ago me and my husband were looking for a landscaping company to help to refurnish the lawn, plant flowers and trees, and to add accents to our newly finished renovation on our property. We had called around and searched the internet looking for a deal, but weary on those charging too little and too much. We stumbled upon "Innovative Lawn and Landscape" located here in the Columbus area. My husband and I met with the young man who claims to be the owner, Andy Fleshmann, he seemed to be well enough groomed and knowledgable in what we were looking for, the over all quoted price was $2100. For what we wanted and were quoted for by others this seemed fair, although i had a gut feeling about this company, i agreed with my husband on contracting them.
As arranged, the crew showed up and started work on our lawn preparing the yard for plantation and laying of the seed. The crew seemed to be all mexican, and progress seemed rather good, but after two days, the work stopped, and the crew did not show up, after calling for several days we heard back from the "owner" and were told that he had a dispute with his crew and was in the middle of restaffing and assured us that he would be back on the job in no-time, 3 weeks and many more phone calls later the owner himself showed up with a crew of what appeared to be just rag-tag stoners from some neighborhood, whon seemed to be high most of the time.
At this point my husband was furious and when he attempted to get our deposit back, which stupidly on our part was $1400, he was some what man handled by Andy and this big brute of a buddy he had with him. So we bit our lips and hoped for the best.in the next 1 and a half weeks that it took, they were consistantly late, and often taking breaks, also my daughter, of age 15, whom could not be mistaken for any older, was repeatedly harrassed by the crew, and was eye-balled in a creepy manner by the owner himself, followed by whispers and giggles to his other goons, which i can only imagine were sexually degrading in their manner. I, myself found it quite eerie to come home, alone, during the day and see the stares i recieved from these men.
When the job finally came to an end my husband recieved a bill amounting to $3294.57, with the claim of materials and tools being stolen, which i did not even see present at all during their time on the job. When my husband tried to make a stand again, he was badgered and intmidated by this buffoon and his oger. The fight ended up with the owner and his friend ripping some of the trees and perennials they had planted out, and strewning them across the yard, my husband gave them a check for $1300, what he considered to be fair.
Thinking this is the last we will ever see of these individuals, my husband was later confronted, at our family business while closing, by some employees of the landscaping company, and being intimidated as he was, handed over another $400 in chash.
I will never deal with these individuals again, i wanted to get the authorities involved, but due to my husbands sense of pride and the over all fear of retaliation, we have left it to be, all i can do is to warn others of their con-game and hope to stop it before it starts for others. Please beware, and if you choose to deal with these people be very careful and do not give any money up front, or you will be stuck for the long haul.
