I ordered several Lutron wall plates from this internet company (eLights.com) over a month ago (Feb. 6). I was charged $31.65 through Pay Pal. On the web site, they said that the items were in stock. They sent a confirmation letter and a link to "check the status of my order."
A week or two went by and I received nothing, so I went to the link to check the status of my order. Nothing was there (there was no status) other than the fact that I ordered the items.
I wrote them an e-mail using the "contact us" form on their web site. I received no response, so I wrote them again. Finally, on March 3, almost one month since I placed my order, I received this email response from their customer service:
"I am sorry about the mix-up. Your order was crossed with someone else's shipping address and was sent to the wrong customer. If you would still like them I can send them out today."
I did not really believe them (about the mix-up), but nonetheless, I told them to go ahead and ship the order.
Well, after 4 days or so, on Friday, when nothing arrived, I emailed them this:
"Please send me the tracking number. If I don't hear from you by Monday afternoon, I will assume that the order has not been shipped and will presume it is canceled for good and that I will receive a refund.
After the so-called "mix-up" the least you could have done was send it 1 or 2 day shipping, which apparently you did not.
My experience with your company has been horrendous so far and it is not getting any better."
I got this email in response:
"I am trying to get the tracking number. I should have Tuesday afternoon."
Needless to say, it is Tuesday night and I did NOT get any tracking number. When I check the original link on the web site for the "status of my order" again, there is nothing but the fact that I ordered the items on Feb. 6.
I sent them an email tonight, officially canceling my order and I am going through Pay Pal to get a refund.
Either this company is a complete scam or they are totally incompetent. I have to assume the former. Either way, I am getting ripped off. My only consolation is that I should receive a refund from Pay Pal. I filed a grievance with them (Pay Pal) 19 days ago, and eLights has not responded to the grievance (of course). Now I have to purchase these items somewhere else, not to mention the time and aggravation it has cost me already.
