Young America Fulfillment Center - Maytag Redemption Center Rebate Ripoff! Scam

I purchased a Maytag product from a local dealer. With this purchase, I was to receive two separate rebate offers at $30 apiece. One of the rebates completed successfully. The other, I'm still fighting to try and get.

I mailed in my rebate forms as requested. This was specifically for the Maytag Update, Innovate, Rebate program. I completed the necessary forms, made a copy of my sales receipt (including model number), and mailed off the forms on August 14. On August 31, I received a letter from the Maytag Redemption Center (aka Young America Fulfillment Center) stating that the "sales receipt didn't indicate a purchase of qualifying model."

I contacted them via phone immediately at 1-800-768-2777 with my information on 8/31/06. I was told I didn't have a qualifying model. They told me I had model 3909 and I had 3905 as CLEARLY represented on the sales receipt. They told me to remail. I told them no and requested a fax number. I refaxed my copies to fax number 866-843-9980. I received a fax confirmation notice.

Today (9/19/06) I decided to follow up with them as I have still not received a check. I was told over the phone, "the sales receipt didn't indicate a purchase of qualifying model." I told them I called them on 8/31 and refaxed the documents. They stated they were not received. I told them I received the fax confirmation; they again said they did not receive it and were not interested in seeing a copy of my confirmation. I (to put it bluntly) opted for a harsh tone in demanding my rebate and asked to speak to a supervisor.

I spoke with "Sarah", a supervisor at the location, who apologized and said they did not receive the fax, however, she was kind enough to 'override' the system and I would be receiving my rebate in 30-45 days. Again... A wait of a month to a month and a half. I was upset and asked that they expedite the check because this was a clerical error on their part and that it was seemingly some sort of scam to give consumers the run around so as not to pressure the company to send rebate checks. I again was told it would be 30-45 days.

In the meantime, "Sarah" was upset that I also asked for a mailing address to formally write a complaint. After receiving a bit of lip, she provided an address that I have now tracked back to Young America Fulfillment Center in Chanhassen, MN. I do plan to write a letter of complaint. It appears that Maytag pays for this service for their customers and has hired Young America to complete rebates. I don't think this looks good for either company. It will also make me rethink buying a Maytag product in the future. It makes me realize what a joke rebates are!

We'll see if I ever see the money from the rebate.in the meantime, the address I was given to write a complaint to was:

Maytag Office of the President
18671 Lake Drive East
Chanhassen, MN. 55317-9383

I will make sure to also get an address from Maytag directly since this service for them is outsourced. I think they should know the trouble that their customers are having getting rebates. This is a sad scam and reminds me of insurance fraud... Deny all initial and subsequent claims... And then payoff those that are the squeeky wheel.

It saves the companies a LOT of money!!! Fight for your dough!
