Ripoff Not happy with product

Below is a copy of the complaint I placed on the Maytag website. Now, technically the company is standing by their policy and only honoring their written warranty.in the end I am only out a day of work (to meet the repair person) and about $150 or so in food. But it is the principal of the matter:

I am not very pleased with my Maytag refrigerator.in the past I did not bother to spend more than $600-700 for a refrigerator. After recently moving into a newly built home I decided that a "nicer" refrigerator would really make our kitchen stand out. After spending a considerable amount of time in stores and online researching new appliances we decided to purchase the newer model french door/bottom freezer model.

After less than 5 months the refrigerator stopped working. I called for service and someone is scheduled to come out tomorrow (within 48 hrs) to hopefully repair the refrigerator. I looked in the owner's manual and it states that you are not responsible for loss food due to an appliance malfunctioning (in most states).

I find it reprehensible that after less than 5 months I am out well over a $100 because of your faulty appliance. To make matters worse I called your "customer service" number to get some clarification. After being told that food loss was not covered by a person who obviously did not want to be at work I was transferred to a different department.

After being told the same thing I was put on hold for nearly 20 minutes when I ask to speak to a supervisor. The person who answers the phone is not a supervisor and I basically start over. After being put on hold for a few more minutes I was told that a supervisor told her, to tell me, to look in my owner's manual.

I think that the customer service is horrible and I feel like I am being taken advantage of. After spending more than $1600 I realize that I am nothing more than a nother number to your company. While I am stuck with the refrigerator for now, going forward I will not be purchasing any more appliances from a company who does not take care of their customers.
