is maytag the best you can buy?
I don't think so, all my life I have heard that Maytag is the best and you can't go wrong if you buy Maytag appliances, so at age 60 I finely was able to afford a Maytag refrigerator.
In September 1999 I purchased the Maytag refrigerator. I remodeled my kitchen last April with new laminated floor and replaced all the appliances and was proud of all the work I had done on this Kitchen until February 3 when I left my home for about an hour, only to return to find that the Maytag refrigerator that I was so proud of have had turned the water dispenser on by it's self and was running all over the floor. The only way that I could turn it off was to open the freezer door, then wade through the water and go turn off the main water cutoff.
My question is why would any company make a refrigerator that would do this? The repair man (not a Maytag repair man, he is at his home watching his refrigerator so it will not do the same thing to his floor) came out and found that a circuit board went bad and had to be replaced, this board can go bad and cause this problem. Why is their not a back-up shut off system that will turn off the water after it runs a gallon of water or a timer that turns the water off after 5 minutes?
Not only did this problem cost me $200.00 for the circuit board but also a $250.00 deductible and unconvinced of having the sub flooring and floor replaced. What a mess I will have until everything is repaired!
I have some choices to resolve this problem, one is I can replace this refrigerator with one that does not have a water dispenser on it or have a switch put on this one that will disable the dispenser when I leave the house. How can anyone ever trust that this problem will not come back every time he leaves the house? I will be thinking will it happen again today or how long will it be before it happens again?
I know one thing I will never recommend that anyone buy a Maytag refrigerator with an ice and water dispenser on it ever!
