Ripoff, Come and Get Your Own Stuff!

Bought a NEW dining room set from RED TAG FURNITURE, Santa Rosa California, in May. They said it would arrive in 2 days. I was impressed. The furniture took 5 days to arrive. No big deal except that I waited for the truck that did not come, although the salesman said it was on its way.

Finally the furniture arrived... On the back of a rusty, Mitsubishi pickup truck, sort of like the Beverly Hillbillies style... When the truck pulled up in my driveway I went out and inspected the items (Which were not NEW but the floor displays) (New furniture does not come assembled and wrapped in towels and blankets hanging off a truck.)

I decided that I would accept the items providing they were not damaged. We found 3 chairs damaged... Major scratches and one was even cracked. I called the store and after the driver told his boss that the chairs were "Bouncing around on the truck", I was told to send the 3 chairs back and they would get them to me the next day. The driver took out a marker and started to "touch up the scratches" I said NO WAY! He found a good leg on one of the damaged chairs and replaced it on one chair that was not too damaged so I accepted this chair.

I paid for delivery of these items and I had to carry them up the stairs. I had to convince the driver to at least help me carry the table. Now they owed me 2 chairs. The next day the truck did not come. The sales man told me it would have to be the following week that they would deliver the 2 chairs.

I agreed. On Monday, I called the store to find out the status and was told by another saleman that They were not going to deliver the chairs because there was nothing wrong with the one's I returned. He said they have them on display. I would have to come to Santa Rosa (2 1/2 hours away) to pick them up... I was shocked! I did drive down there after talking to numerous sales people who did not know the full name of the owner or manager of the store.

I was told it was Dave, but Dave was NEVER there when I called. When I arrived at the store I was ushered to the back where my " not damaged chairs " were on display. Little did they know that when I inspected the chairs at my house I made a mark on the tag under the seats of the damaged ones. I turned over every chair on the display and NOT ONE had that mark. When I informed the salesman of this mark, he said " well... I guess you got us " So I took my "new" (off the floor display) chairs and returned home.

I informed my credit card company and was issued a $200.00 credit pending the information provided by the store.

The sales man also told us that MANY OF HIS CUSTOMERS pick up items when they are returned as damaged. What does that tell you? We also bought a glider chair that actually came in the box. The driver came up to put it together... First of all, I had to loan him tools, and then I had to tell him how to put it together! If I left it to him someone would most definately would have got hurt when it fell apart! He had NO CLUE!!!
Do not buy from red tag furniture...
