Contacted Sears for water softener repair. Technician comes on July 17 and hands me a bill for $120.91 that states "did cycle instruct customer unit is operating normal". He never advised me beforehand what the cost would be, which he is supposed to do. Following morning I awake to find a flood in the basement; the origin being the water softener. Two hours of mopping to start the drying process. No satisfaction with a call to Sears repair. After threatening the manager of the Livingston store with a return of a washer and dryer that I just purchased, the same "technician" appeared to sate that the hose had come undone from the feed tube - and he vehemently denied having touched it. Well, what did he touch for $120.91? Now, I am hearing water running through the pipes in my basement. There is no leakage but gallons of water is being wasted that I will have to pay for. I stopped it by shutting off the water softener. Called repair and they profusely apologized, which is nonsense, and told me I would have to wait 1 1/2 weeks for a technician. Tried to send e-mails 3 times to Sears Customer Service and after hitting the submit button, nothing happens. Called the 800 number and got more apologies and "I'm sorry" but no one cares. Still have to wait for service on August 5 and may still return the washer and dryer. Sears is an abomination and lesson learned. No more purchases from them.
