I have purchased a used vehicle from Basil resale south in cash about 2 years ago. When I first purchased the vehicle the a/c did not work, which I was assured it would be fixed. Here it is 2 years later and they still have failed to fix the problem. On top of that, I had purchased a diamond package warranty which according to the contract is a5 year 100k which ever comes first deal. Well I was told by the sales rep, Scott Dubinski that I was able to put down 20% which was a little over 300 and can finance the remaining balance w no additional finance charges and they would automatically deduct about 100 our so w taxes directly out of my checking account. TheThe first 3 months of purchasing this warranty, nothing came out of my account so I then contacted interstate to make sure everything was good and dandy, I was told my"warranty" was fine and to just leave the money in the bank and it would be pulled. Another 3 months went by and nothing ever came out. At that time I had closed the account bc I was not using out and figured if they wanted their money they'd call me for new banking info. That never happened. So now, 2 years later my car breaks and low and behold I attempt to use my warranty and am told by Karen, the receptionist that I do not have a diamond package but only a lifetime warranty on my engine. I tried to explain to her that I would have not purchased an engine warranty seeing as how the company offers that as an incentive free of charge on all vehicles purchased. She then instructed me to contact interstate which they too told me I do not have what I paid for but just an engine warranty in which they were referring to in the past when I called to check on the status. I then spoke w Mike Roder which is the highest man on the totem pole and he stated there is no record of me purchasing this additional plan and that if I wanted it, it would be 1500 upfront and that even if I buy it I am unable to use it bc it does not cover pre existing problems!!! I tried to explain that it is not a pre existing condition bc had the car salesman not pocketed my dp I would already have the warranty and be getting my car fixed as we speak. Mike did not want to help solve this problem at all. The only solution he had to offer was pay me in full for the warranty or get lost. How can they tray their customers this way especially when they were handed over 12k in cash??? For a vehicle? These people have no morals and no respect for their customers. I'm sure I'm not the only one this had happened to and if we continue to let then get away with it, they will do just that. If you have experienced anything like this please leave a comment, I am looking to file a class action lawsuit against then for business practices if there have been more instances like these.
