Here is a copy of the letter I emailed www.carrental.com and Dollar Car Rents. Dollar Car Rents never replied and www.carrental.com wrote back claiming they supply exceptional service and go beyond the call of duty.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am so angry I could explode. I got to Frankfurt Dollar Car Rental at approximately 10pm this evening as planned being the 6 August. I gave Dollar Car Rental my reservation details and showed them my insurance print out which you sold me policy number MZ??? Firstly they told me that the amount of the car rental agreed to of Euro 136.01 did not include further taxes of Euro 30. This is nuts and has never happened to me before renting cars. I rent cars 300 days per year and I am in Germany 4 times per year and this is the first time this has happened but it just gets worse. Dollar Car Rental said that the insurance policy you sold me for USD$80 plus dollars was not only unacceptable to them but illegal in Germany and they could not give me my rental car if I did not agree to pay Euros 21 per day plus the $30 extra tax that I did not agree to in the first place. They showed me the fine print of their rental agreement and it states that NO 3rd party insurance is acceptable under any circumstances ever yet you sold me a 3rd party policy for the car I was to rent at Dollar Car Rental? What the hell are you guys doing there?
In my opinion, this is a con job at the highest level and you both are not getting away with it. I will post this all over the internet if i am not full refunded and then compensated to my satisfaction!!! This situation has caused me great harm, stress and damage to my health.
I argued black and blue with Dollar Car Rental and they said like it or lump it and they refused to give me a car unless I paid this ransom money. It was now 10.15pm and to top it off they said they were closing in 15 minutes and if I didnt decide now and pay, I would be left at the airport at 10.30pm with no car. Yet again on top of all this, the hotel I booked did not have a late check in service and was also about to close for the night and I would be left with no car and no hotel all because of you guys, and the lack of communication between you and Dollar Car Rentals.
I have NEVER been in this situation in many years renting 300 days per year nor have I ever been treated like I was being robbed and held for ransom which is exactly what Dollar Car Rentals did to me tonight.
After some serious argument with Dollar Car Rental, I went to all the other rental companies at the airport and ended up taking the cheapest available at Euro 218 for 7 days.
I thought this stuff only happened in the movies not to a mature man with 35 years car rental experience in 104 counties!
Here is my demand,
1. A refund for the car insurance I took with you.
2. An apology in writing,
3. A full explanation.
4. I want you to pay me the difference between the original car rental with you and the car rental I was forced to take which luckily for you was not too much as the first few companies I asked wanted double!
5. Then I want some form of monetary of free future car rental for the server stress you have caused me by selling me illegal car insurance that cannot be accepted by any car renter in Germany by law.
