I had a confirmed car rental with ACE in London Heathrow airport for a car rental for 2 weeks. The confirmed rental stated the total cost including taxes. When I arrived at the rental place (a trailor in a hotel parking lot)
I was told that because I did not purchase insurance with them I was being charged an additional $8/day and they called it an indemnity tax. I have never heard of such a tax. The word tax is used for a charge that the goverment is collecting. I do not think the goverment cares if I purchased insurance from the renter. So this extra tax was going straight into the car rental company's profit.
The confirmation said the car rental company was ACE but when we got there it was actually another company (? Name) that was doing the car rental.
I refused to pay the extra and left and rented a car from budget instead.
Carrentals.com sent me an email asking how the rental went so I told them but I see my comments was never entered into their Customer Testimonials
section.in fact if you check for Customer Testimonials at location LHR there are only 2 entries, all positive.in fact all the Customer Testimonials are positive so this is a very biased Customer Testimonials.
