Horrible Work Ruined My Car!

April:
I am very sensitive to light so I thought I would get my car windows tinted. I went to X-treme Motorsports and got the windows tinted on a Friday afternoon. I was given a 2 hour appointment, but the car was not ready for 3 1/2 hours. They ran out of tint, so my rear window did not get completed that day. After telling me not to roll windows down because it takes 2 days for the tint to cure, I did not get back into the car until Monday morning. To my horror, there were lines and creases all through the tint on 2 windows. I called and they said they would fix it when I brought the car back for the rear window.

Arrived for my second appt. Only to be told it was not until the next week. I recall specifically asking for the date because I was doing this on my days off from work. They were booked up, I had to reschedule.

Took the car back for another 2 hour appointment to finish and fix the tint. After 3 hours, the car was finally done. Let the windows cure the 2 days and went out and looked. It was better than last time, although a huge crease was in the rear window tint. I decided that since it was below my line of vision while driving I would leave it alone rather than be bothered with having the redo it.

December:
I noticed the tint on the drivers side window has small pin prick holes in it. After close examination, the tint has small bubbles in places throughout and I conclude that rolling the window up and down has caused the bubbles to break, making these holes. My receipt says lifetime warranty against peeling and fading. I remember the technician saying something about cold weather being bad for tinting, so I decide to wait and get the tint fixed when it is warmer.

April:
I take the car in to X-treme Motorsports to be retinted on Good Friday. This time I was told it would be 2 hours as well, after 4 hours the car is finally done. Get in the car Monday to go to work. Looking out the side window and the rearview mirror, I am startled to find the tint does not match. The rear window seems twice as dark as the rest. I call X-treme Motorsports back and tell my problem and get scheduled another appt. Arrive for the appt, the technician looks at the car, says he needs to order a tint removal kit and then makes me schedule another appt. He says that he will redo the rear window and drivers side window at the appt since a funnel shaped bubble is in the side window.

Arrive for my 5th appt. With X-treme Motorsports. 2 hour appt takes 4 1/2 hours, technician retints the rear window only. I ask why my drivers side window is down, he says he forgot about that window and I am ready to scream. He takes the car back down and to my amazement he has the side window stripped and retinted in 35 minutes. I get in the car and leave, hoping this is the end of the saga.

May:
A little more than a week after this retinting, it rains. I turn on the rear defrost and nothing happens. I check the posts to make sure the connection is good and even change the fuse to be sure that is not the problem. Still doesn't work, I call X-treme Motorsports and tell them that the rear defroster doesn't work now. The "owner" says I should bring it down for him to see.

I take the car in a few days later and the owner messes with the connections and says they seem loose. I tell him the defrost worked perfectly before they retinted the window and he says he will take my number and have the technician call me the next day that he is at work. I wait a week, no call. I call them and get told the technician is not in, another person assures me I will get a call back the next day when the technician returns to work.

I wait 3 days and call back. The technician refuses to get on the phone with me, telling the woman talking to me that there is nothing he can do (he hasn't seen the car since this issue came up) and says he warned me that removing the rear tint could damage the rear defrost. I was NEVER told anything about the rear defrost possibly being damaged or I would have left the rear tint alone and mismatched. Living in a mid Atlantic town on the bay, we get lots of rain and snow and ice. I use the rear defrost daily in the winter and once or twice a week the rest of the year. I tell the woman to have the owner call me and she assures me he will call back that day.

I have never received a call back. It has been 3 weeks since my last call to X-treme Motorsports and I have come to the conclusion that they cannot fix the rear defrost, nor will they pay to have it fixed.

After 16 hours spent at X-treme Motorsports trying to get my windows tinted correctly and at least another 20 phone calls (none of which were ever returned if I was told I would be getting a call back) I have decided not to raise my blood pressure any further by continuing to try to get any satisfaction from X-treme Motorsports.

This fall I will be trading the car in, even though there is nothing else wrong with the car and I have loved the car since the moment I got behind the wheel of it a few years ago.
