Christmas Light Installation Experience – Formal Complaint
I am currently pursuing legal action in small claims court against Anthony’s Professional Services due to a highly unsatisfactory experience with a Christmas light installation. The following information is accurate and documented.
1. Negative online reviews regarding Anthony’s Professional Services are promptly removed.
2. Anthony agreed to provide a full installation crew; however, only one worker was sent to complete the job.
3. Anthony represented that his business was insured. The individual performing the work appeared to be working off the books.
4. Anthony did not supervise the project despite repeated concerns I raised about the quality of work. He never visited my property, and communication was extremely limited. I was only able to speak with him directly by phone once; most interactions were met with excuses.
5. The lift required for the installation—recommended by Anthony and paid for by me—became stuck twice due to improper operation. Anthony’s company refused to arrange assistance, and I was forced to pay out of pocket to have it resolved.
6. The lift that was driven by Anthony’s employee accidentally ran over my fire pit, causing damage. Anthony did not offer compensation or take responsibility for the damage.
7. Midway through the project, Anthony demanded a 100% price increase. Because I had already paid for a week-long lift rental and could not secure another installer on short notice, I felt coerced into agreeing to avoid project abandonment.
8. Anthony’s Professional Services is not registered with the Better Business Bureau.
9. Anthony posted photographs of my home online without my permission.
10. The project was not completed anywhere near the promised deadline (Before Christmas)
11. The quality of the installation was extremely poor and incomplete. Despite being provided with detailed diagrams and clear instructions, the worker refused to follow them. Screws were specifically required to secure the permanent lights, yet only approximately less than 5% had screws. You can not call permanent lights permanent without using screws. As a result, the lights are now falling off. I have spent over 60 hours personally correcting and am still correcting Anthony’s Professional Services mistakes.
12. Despite the substandard installation, I paid the worker (Not Anthony due to obvious reasons) more than the original quoted amount based on the hours worked. The worker himself was polite but lacked attention to detail, professionalism, and adherence to basic instructions. This was especially disappointing given that ASAHOM permanent lights are widely regarded as simplest permanent lights to install.
13. I later learned that the worker had allegedly been threatened with termination multiple times. It is concerning that an employee in such a position was sent to work alone without any supervision.
14. The worker arrived with inadequate equipment, including only a small, outdated ladder. Anthony failed to ensure the worker had proper tools such as a drill, screwdrivers, wire cutters, splicers, appropriate ladders, and roof-protection materials—setting the project up for failure.
15. I informed Anthony that payment would be made upon completion: $1,000 on January 1st and the remaining $1,000 once the work was finished. Despite this, he repeatedly demanded payment. I paid the worker directly because he completed the labor. Anthony, however, contributed nothing beyond unfulfilled promises and misinformation. I ultimately completed over 50% of the project myself due to a complete loss of trust.
16. Anthony repeatedly cited personal issues—including phone problems, family illness, and his own health—as excuses. While I empathize with personal hardships, running a business requires accountability. Everyone is facing personal challenges. Including myself. Those challenges should not excuse repeated dishonesty or failure to meet agreed upon obligations.
I am pursuing this matter in small claims court not for financial recovery, but to prevent others from experiencing the same issues. While I expect to incur a financial loss, my goal is to ensure accountability and protect future customers from similar treatment by Anthony’s Professional Services.
