Toyota Motors will not stand behind a known defect in 1997 Camry 4 cyl engines. Hush policy on defective rod bearing cap nuts.
Engine showing no evidence of oil starvation in either the top or bottom part of the engine has #2 rod fail and blow through the engine block. Evidence of piston rod shows failure of cap nuts.
Toyota without even looking at engine stated they would not stand behind their product no matter if the problem was due to oil jel or any other reason. They stated that it was too far out of warranty. Problem occured with 76,000 miles on engine. Oil and filter were changed every 7500 miles as requested by Toyota Moters.
