I am trying to find folks who have had problems with Freedom Motors handicap vans. Despite their claims, there failure to properly construct our van has voided our Toyota warranty.
We have learned that the gasoline canister that goes from the gas tank to the engine was improperly installed. This is a dangerous situation. Per Toyota the canister should be mounted above the gas tank not below as in our van. We have had fuel blow back on us during the fueling process and unexplained stalling. Per Toyota this is because the canister has been filling with fuel versus fuel vapors. We get very strong gasoline smells and have for years.
Freedom Motors or their distributor in California does not return calls. They lured me to Santa Ana on the promise of repairing the problem. They took pictures and no repairs have been made. I have filed a complaint with the National Transportation Safety folks. Freedom Motors has not reimbursed me for the temporary repairs either. The problem still remains.
