On Nov 10 I went to this dealer to buy a used car because a friend named "tyrone walker" (MR. T) worked there. SO I thought I won't get screwed because he is an old friend and he will help me get into a car at a reasonable price. I was so wrong. I left there around 6pm after signing a deal for a 99' corolla for 16,730.24 w/an apr of 25.65% for $350.00 a month pymts. I was screwed royally because I'm 20, Female, and very naive.
So I drive myself to work later that evening and when when my shift was over and tried to leave to go home the car wouldn't start. Less then 6 hours after i buy the car the battery is dead. I was not only screwed on the deal but now the damn car wont start. I finally get home at about 3am after my sis jumps starts the car twice so i can make it home. I Wake up at 10am to return the car.
The dealer tells me the car can't be returned and he didn't promise the car would work. *Now the day before I asked him if I could return the car if I change my mind, and he said yes there is a 72 hour cooling off period, but he didn't put it in writing. So I thought there would be no problem returning the car less then 24 hours later, especially since the thing didn't start without someone there to jump start it. But the financer name joel tejada, would not let me cancel the contract, in fact he said i was probably lying about the car not working. And he then pulls out a paper from his drawer that states in writting "there is no cooling off period",
I never saw this paper the night before nor did i sign any paper work indicating no cooling off period and if I did see that I would not have signed the paper. He tells me that because I said that he is going to make me lose my downpayment. This company will use any angle to get you to sign the contract and bind you to a deal you would never agree to unless you were despreate and uneducated on these tactics like myself.
Everybody should know there is a car dealer called lipton toyota that wants to F*%k you up in a bad car deal to benefit for themselves and be considered the best at what they do. If you go there look at there hand to see if their wearing a "PROS" ring and ask them why they have that, then you'll understand what they are all about. $
