My 81 yr. Old mom called me all upset on May 7th. The day before she was told by her regular mechanic that she needed to go back to the place that had worked on her car and messed something up on it. They said they couldn't find the part that was needed to make it pass emissions. She called the place and they told her to bring the car in and leave it with them so that they could check it. He called her a couple of hours later and told her that her 99" Chevy would need $1,600 dollars worth of work to pass emissions. She told him that the car was a 99 and she would have to think about it with the car being older. She then told him she would be by to pick it up. The car was in good running condition when she brought it to them. He also said on the phone in a very smart way that would she rather pay $30,000 for a new car. She went to pick it up and when she got there it was still on the lift. The guy then told her she would have a hard time driving it anywhere and that the belt was about to break. He got it off the lift and my mom got in the car and started to back up and she heard a big loud noise Bam Bam Bam... So she stopped the car. He said "see I told you that the belt was bad". He then told her that it would only take a half hour and to walk to the near by drug store and he would fix it. She said to him " my car was fine when I brought it to you". And told me what choice did I have when I needed my car. She was alone, as my sister had just dropped her off not knowing that she would have so much trouble and she doesn't have a cell phone. She did what he told her to and then fixed the belt and when she returned he charged her $272.72 to change it. I was hoping that there was some kind of company or group or news reporter that could send an elderly person into this place so that this guy could be caught. My mom said that there was another older lady there leaving very upset and when he spoke to her she didn't even turn around to respond. This guy was determined to get some money out of her no matter how he did it. Please if you can pass this on to someone in that area that might care to do something about this. I am in GA and my family is afraid if they do anything that this guy knows where my mom lives and feels he is a danger. Thankyou for your time...
