August 3, We drove our van thru the Tennessee Emissions Center, in order to get tags, It failed two times. After taking it to pennzoil fast lube. They checked the belts and changed the oil. All belts checked OK.
They suggested we take it to a garage to be checked. That is when we drove it to fryar's auto service. We told Bill fryar that it will not pass the emission test center, and asked if he could fix it.
He later called back and said the vans main computer would not hold data in the memory. We gave him the go ahead to fix it, So it would pass emissions. The whole reason for taking it there in the first place. They called four days later to pick it up.
This van belongs to my 70 year old mother. My wife and mother went to pick up the van, when Mr fryar handed my mother a invoice for $800.00, with all of the belts and 8 more items listed replaced. That did not even need to be replaced.
Later that day, they ran it thru emissions center again, And it failed still.
The next day I called Mr fryar. He informed me that he did not replace the main computer, I asked him what the $800.00 was for.
He said he replaced things that the van needed. I told him that the reason the van was even there in the first place, was to fix it to pass the emissions test.
He told me that another $400.00 and he would replace the computer. And that price is his wholesale price. Yeah Right.
My mother has since passed away, and I now own the van. But I can not get tags for it because of this scam company.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB, and after reading the reports about them here. I understand what people say ping pong effect, just back and forth. They sided with the company.
The bottom line is, If your a senior citizen, stay away from fryars auto service, Because when you take your car there, All they see is easy money.
Fryars already had one bad record with the BBB before I filed. They only list that I'm a unsatisfied customer? Nothing else.
I would like to see these con's, put out of business. If they were a class action law suite against this company. I would be one of the first on board.
