Ripoff Bait and Switch of Borrower Co-signer LIED about THEM PAYING OFF OLD CAR

Patrick Grey, manager of United Nissan in Las Vegas, and salesmen including the finance person, promised if I purchased a "cheap repo" and pay on time for 13 months, they would repair my damaged divorce credit which wasn't so bad to begin with-according to them. The deal was made, I gave them $2000. Down for a 1998 Dodge Dakota selling for $13,000. I figured I couldn't haggle the price if they were doing the credit repair.

Nice Guys huh? Around ll: 30 PM, on a Saturday, after 6 1/2 hours of waiting, they asked my friend to sign some papers. They said he needed to co-sign for me. They were all in a hurry now due to the midnight deadline for the Sunday closing. To make a long story short, They stated that THEY would pay off my Pathfinder, which only $3,500. Was owed, as part of the deal. Several people kept coming outside and asking my friend to initial his name? On papers.

When I asked what they were for and if I needed to sign them, they gave me some bull about "oh he's ok to sign-this just says you aren't addind or taking anything off your car and we aren't addind or taking anything off the Dodge cheap repo, and hurried off. Right before the ordeal was about to end, the manager, Patrick Grey;, came outside to my Pathfinder and said to me, "How would you like to drive out of here with a brand new Nissan Truck for the same price?" I asked how he could do that and he said that he didn't know I was trading a Nissan in. He said that the Company would give me a $1500.00 rebate for buying another Nissan in an attempt to keep Nissan customers buying Nissans.

Sounded right to me even though I new the sticker price for the truck was $17,000.00 because during our 6 hour run around that "it would be just another minute", I had looked at most every car on the lot. I picked out one and they rushed it off to be "cleaned and ready for me to drive home. The next thing I know my friend, Jim, was signing some papers. I believed he was co-signing as he also thought. When I tried to ask questions the finance guy gave me a runaround like this had to be done fast bacause the clock was running out. He said he could almost assure us that we would be getting the finance interest cheaper and they would call us on Monday when they heard from the finance co. And we could come back in, finish the paperwork, and ask all these questions. Well-the call never came on Monday.

When I finally found and read the papers Monday night, I saw the scam. I WASN'T EVEN ON THE LOAN! The sticker price had jumped $5000.00 to over $22K with no explaination and they had added $4,300.00 on the loan to pay off my Pathfinder!!! They also had $500.00 charge for theft insurance and $1600. For Extended Warranty which they never talked to me about. I sent my friend, poor Jim, back to the dealer on Tuesday, with the truck. He told them the deal was off because he had no intention of buying a truck. Now this guy is going to talk to "THE WOMAN", me, so he calls me on the phone. When I spoke with this 2nd level salesman, he said it was all disclosed to us, Jim signed off on everything, our old car was gone, and there was nothing I could do about it.

When I wouldn't let him off the hook, he stated that I was yelling and being rude to him. I was actually very calm and knew he was saying this so whoever was in his office would think I was screaming. I figured he couldn't answer my questions so he was going to hang up. I informed him that the $2000. Check (and the $400.00 check he came back and said he had to have for the Dodge,) had been stopped from payment. He told me that I committed a felony??? I paid this money for a Dodge Dakota in my name that I never received. I also called the bank where we owed $3,500 for the Pathfinder and paid off the car.

They are sending the title to me. Why would I give him my car, pay him $4,300 to take it, and not even receive a new car in return??? This guy must think women are STUPID! I didn't even mention the 10% of invoice that he told me COSCO would pay for the Dodge because I am a Las Vegas teacher. I'm e-mailing COSCO next / Finally, every time I had a question on Saturday night, I got the bottom level salesman who couldn't understand or speak much English. He would go away to find the answer and never return or when he did he would give me an answer in broken English that no one could understand.

He didn't even know the manager had switched the Dodge for a Brand new Nissan Truck and told me I had the wrong truck when he went with us to put gas in it at a gas station. Now we are at a standoff. The New truck is hidden so they don't come back and steal it. I have no way to drive to teach Summer School that starts next Monday.

I have the title to my Pathfinder but they said between Monday and Tuesday they sold it to a dealer and I can't have it back-without a clear title? I stopped payment on the $2600. Down payment on the Dodge I never received. I'll keep you informed as to what happens now. If anyone can help me, please e-mail me @ [email protected]. LAS VEGAS-SIN CARDEALER CITY!
