Salesperson said one thing and wrote paperwork up another way

My husband and I went out looking to trade in our Chev. Suburban. We stopped at Dick Hannah Jeep. We looked at Jeeps and none would comfortable seat my large framed husband. The sales person showed us a PT Cruiser. I took the car out for a test drive. I liked the openness of the car and my husband fit inside ok.

We went inside to talk trade in. We owed $10,000 on our car. The salesmanager came out and asked us for $7000.00 to get us into the PT. Cruiser. We said no. We would keep the Suburban.

He asked if we had any other cars. I told him I had a 1995 Nissan that was paid for and a 2001 Dodge we owed under $2000.00 on. He asked if we wanted to trade in both cars. We said we would trade in the 1995 Nissan, but not the Dodge. He left us for a while.

When he came back out he asked me questions on the Nissan. He said he would give us $2000 for the Nissan. I told him, no way was I going to have three car payments. So he said "what if I also pay off your Dodge?" I said I would go for that if it meant, $2000 for the Nissan and $2000 for the Dodge, and if the payments would be about $325.00 a month. He said the payments would be $360.00 and from there we dickered and settled and initialed on a monthly payment of $330.

We signed the papers. During the signing I asked the finance person about the trade in and payoff on the two cars. She said it was all on the paper.

A few days later I got to thinking on things; that I never saw the $2000.00 coming off the car price, I saw the $3500.00 for the rebate. I took out my calculator to figure it out on my own. On the itemization of amount finance it show "trade in $2000.00" then "Less payoff $2000.00" and the part that confused me "Equals net trade in: 0 (zero) "Other: rebate $3500.00"
What Dick Hannah meant, but didn't clarify was that they would give me $2000.00 for my Nissan and use that money to pay off the Dodge.

We called the salesman and they said there was nothing we could do about it.

So they lied, and we signed and that is it. They did apologize for the misunderstanding and that the forms/paper work was really confusing.

The thing that really makes me mad is I did ask, point blank that they were giving us $2000 trade in and $2000.00 to pay off the Dodge. I should have asked him if we were getting $4000.00 total. Technically the salesman never lied, he just did not clarify.

The salesperson was a new girl only 18 years old, we were her third sale. I Called her first and was told she is no longer working there. She worked there for two maybe three weeks, her mother was the finance person that did our paper work up. We have no way of getting her to honor what was agreed on.

So be warned, make sure the salesperson writes it up and the finance person doing the paperwork is in line also. If for one second you don't understand any of the transaction on the paper work... Stop... Go think and come back another day... Salespeople at DICK HANNAH are not your friends, they want your money and that is all.

When you buy from Dick Hannah he "says you are a friend for life"... Well with friends like him I don't need any enemies.
