Desert Nissan
Unbelievable Service

As I think about this, I want to throw up! To begin with my husband and I went to look for an economical vehicle. We stopped at several places and finally stopped in at Desert Nissan in Las Vegas. The selection was pretty good. The salesman, Alvin, was a bit pushy but that was okay. The thing that started to bother me was one of the first questions he asked was how large our family was and if we could make a large enough down payment. The down payment part I could understand, but how large our family was?

At any rate, we allowed him to show us a couple of cars and some trucks. Our credit is not the greatest and we let him know right up front. His words to us were "Not a problem, we work with everyone and you will drive out of here with a vehicle!" Cool! Everything sounded okay. We found a good deal on a truck and went inside to see about paperwork and all that stuff!

We got inside and were asked to have a seat at a table. We were left alone for about 5 minutes and Alvin came back with some papers. We filled them out and away he went again. This time they were checking our credit. Good deal! We told him our credit was not good and we couldn't afford to put down a large amount of money. This time we were left alone for about 20 minutes. Then Alvin came back and told us we could look at a different selection of cheaper cars and trucks. So out the door we went with Alvin telling us he had this wonderful truck in mind.

The truck was a low rider without the hydraulics. I flat out told him NOT even!!! He then went back in to talk to someone and decided that the truck we originally looked at might be okay. We went back inside, took our seats, and waited for Alvin to come back. He brought along his manager, Randy, to the table with him. Randy told us that we would have to come up with $1100 for the down payment and the truck was ours.

We had $500 and signed an agreement that we would be in by the end of that week to deliver $600 more. We drove away in a Chevy S-10.

We delivered the additional money on time and signed all the rest of the necessary documents. This money was our kids' Christmas money. We told him this and were assured that we would be financed. About a week later, the truck started having front-end problems and we took it in. They allowed us to trade the truck on another one. This one was a Ford Ranger. Then a few days after that, we get a call from the finance guy, Tim.

Tim told us that we had to come up with more of a down payment or get a co-signer and the documents would be finalized. We asked my husband's mother if she would co-sign for us and she agreed. When we went down to pick up the paperwork from Desert Nissan (after they ran my mother-in-laws credit, of course), we noticed that they had put her on as Buyer not co-signer. When we questioned them about this, they said that it wasn't the final paperwork and on the final, we would be the buyer and she would be co-signer.

My mother-in-law refused to sign on the buyer line and signed instead on the co-signer line. That seemed fair since we were buying the truck and not her! When we took the papers in, Tim became annoyed that she signed on the wrong line and we did a conference call to her. Tim told her that he would draw up new papers for her to sign on the co-signers line and then the deal would be done. So away we went with new papers in hand.

About 2 days later, we receive a call to come in and sign the papers. With my husbands work schedule, we had to wait until the weekend. They didn't seem to have a problem with that, at first!!! When we got down to Desert Nissan to sign the papers, we were ushered into Tim's office and told to have a seat. Tim is the finance manager, remember, and supposedly a professional. He told us that our credit was no good (which we told them up front, in the beginning), and that because my mother-in-law wouldn't sign on the buyers line, we had to turn in the truck. We demanded our $1100 back to go find another car and were told NO! We were told that we were leaches, we were trash, and he asked what kind of people we thought we were! He told my husband that he (Tim) was going to kick my husbands ass and to get the F* out of his office and off their property RIGHT NOW!!! Tim mentioned getting the law involved and have us sued! FOR WHAT? Trying to buy a truck?

We left and were on foot 70 miles from our home. To this day we have not received our down payment but still get letters from Alvin saying how glad he is we bought the Chevy S-10.

The moral of this story: Stay away from Desert Nissan. They promise the monn and deliver nothing!
