I understand that they say the $100 deposit is non-refundable. But under certain circumstances they should bend. I would have had no problem renting from them again.
In fact, I need a rental in a couple of months. I rented a vehicle for 4/17/03 thru 4/24/03, made the deposit on 4/7/03. My sister went on life support on 4/12/03. I called on 4/14/03 informed them I will not be taking the mini van and was told that same day that the deposit still is non refundable.
My sister passed away later that night. I contacted the Wizard again on 4/22/03 and was told the same thing about the no refund and kept getting a very sarcastic "have nice day" while I was trying to explain my situation. Called back to get the manager's name so that I could write a letter.
Manager got on the phone refused to give me his full name and continue to read auto rental and hotel policies to me (I don't know why, I didn't want to hear this). I would not have mind bringing in documentation regarding my sister passing. I know I gave them a notice to re-rent the minivan.
And I would have appreciated being treated with some respect. I was not going on vacation after my sister's death.
