I rented a car from Sabans on 5/3/05 I left a $550.00 payment for first week. 350 for the rental and 200 for deposit. On the 8th day 5/11/05 I was going to give another 350 deposit for the next weeks rental. I stopped at a friends house on the way. When I left the car was missing. I called Sabans and was informed they took the car because I was 1 day late (even though they had a 200 dollar deposit). I was told if I came down before 6 and paid my bill I could have my personal property back. I went there and they told me I owed them an additional $440. If I didn't pay them they would keep my stuff.
I paid them and they let me take my property. They said they were charging me for 2 weeks rental and were charging me 8.95 a day for insurance. So as of today I am supposed to have a rental from them and I have insurance paid for the next three days. But they have the car. Also they stole $25 in cash from my rental car when they removed my personal belongings. To sum this up I have a receipt for $994.13 for a rental car I drove for 8 days but it is paid for till the 17th of may. Today is 5/12/05
I want my money back that I overpaid and I want to see this company being held liable for commiting the crime of extortion. They cannot hold my property for a payment.
