On Sunday evening 4/5/09 we drove to fen way auto park in Haverhill ma. On route 125 when we saw a mini van on auto trader it was a 2006 dodge grand caravan SE, with 52,098 miles on it. We spoke to a sales person named Phil who came out and told us about the van. We told him we where looking for a cash deal only. He said not to worry. But he had to put air in the front drivers side tire and also jump start the car with a hand held battery thing. We looked it over and we liked what we saw and asked to take it out for a test drive. He said ok no problem but i need a copy of your license and i need to put gas in to it for you.
We then took it out for a drive down the street. It performed well i pulled over yet again and looked it over and crawled under the car to look closer to see if i saw anything. From my stand point i saw nothing to worry about. We took it back to fen way where we went in side to talk price thay where asking $7,995.00 firm as thay stated that the van was listed in Kelly blue book for $10,000.00 and we where getting a great deal.
We then asked if we could take it to my repair shop and have them look it over. PHIL said ok. But i need a $300.00 deposit from me that would be 100% refundable. And if we change ower mind for any reason. Also he had told us that if my repair shop found anything thing wrong that thay would stand by there word and fix everything free of charge.
On 4/7/09 we took van to repair shop at 9:00am and found (oil leaking at filter, a/c needs recharging, need 4 new tires, need 4 new rotors and brake pads) invoice# 27682. When we returned to fen way auto park. I spoke to Phil and gave him the copy of the invoice. Then he looked it over and said i have to talk to someone in charge, and at that point another man sitting on the other side of the room with a women looking over his shoulder as he was reading what was on the invoice and said he would NOT pay to have this done unless i pay him $500.00 more on top of the cost of the car because he would not be making money if he fixed what was wrong. I told him that PHIL and i had an agreement that he would honor the cost of all repairs at no cost to me. I repeated this about 3 times and PHIL told me i was getting a great deal and i should pay the $500.00 which would be 1/2 the cost of the bill. If i want it fixed right. I said NO WAY! I asked for my $300.00 check deposit back and said i will pass on the hole thing. That time PHIL said "FINE GO GET SCREWED SOMEWHERE ELSE" i said i will and have a good day. I left went back home about about 1 hour later i got a phone call from someone claiming to be the owner a Mr Delano he said he would look in to what had happened and see if he could get the stuff done that was on the list.
He then called me back later that night and told me that he has been having back problems that's why he was not there working ect... He then asked me if he could do something to earn back my trust and still buy the van at $7,995.00 i said i don't know. Because your sales men lied to me and then went back on his word and then argued with me telling me that i should split the cost of repairs, for the van i was looking to buy. He then gave me his cell phone # 603-351-8310 he said call me if you change your mind...
I called him back on 4/8/09 and left a message on his cell phone saying i would only buy it if all work was done right and my repair shop looked it over again to make shore. And that i would not put out any more money then just the $7,995.00 later that night i was contacted yet again.By Mr Delano saying he decided to fix all that was said to be wrong and he wanted my business. At which time a told him NO WAY! That we did not like the way he did business and that we would never buy from him again and that we where going to file a complaint with the B.B.B.
