Rip off! Liars, misleading, lies about EVERYTHING! Nothing they say is credible! Buyers beware!

Where did you get on your situation??? Here's what happened to me! Same CRAP!

On Friday March 20, I was contacted by this specific dealership and they stated that they would at least be straight forward with me and tell me whether or not they could do business. I had been to several other car dealerships before and explained my situation while on the phone to give them a heads up and ensure they were fully aware of what I had previously been through. He stated that he would be completely honest with me and tell me whether or not they could make a deal.

I showed up at the dealership and took a look around at the vehicle of my choice. After I decided that yes I did like it we sat down to work on the numbers for the car. Long story short, they couldn't do anything... Until the last minute they remembered there was an 08 Optima that they could possibly run numbers on and see if it would work. All went well - they said that I was approved and had me sign ALL of the paperwork. The tricky thing is - they didn't give me ANY copies. I felt this was strange and mentioned several times that I wanted copies before I left... It was around 9-9:30 or so and I ended up swapping vehicles and I was in the new car.

After talking to family members, they all said I was crazy for not getting a copy of the deal. Ok - I thought it was strange too and determined that Monday that I would go and demand a copy of my contract that I signed. They gave me a copy but it wasn't the contract that I had signed. It was a copy of some buyers order and it wasn't even the one I signed. It was one they printed off and didn't even have correct information on it.

I called several times during the week and was advised by one person that this was Kia's policy not to give the copy to the customer and that they had to send it to the bank and have the check back to them before they would send me a copy of the contract. Finally Friday, March 27, I reached a finance manager via telephone and advised that I wanted a copy of the signed contract. I also mentioned how I had heard of people getting phone calls the next week and them telling them they weren't approved. The guy actually stopped, took a look at my file, and said - Oh! Yes Ms Lawson! You're approved, let me tell you the company that will be providing you the loan - it is Americredit! All we need you to do is return and sign the new contract with the new finance company on the paperwork and you'll be good to go! It will take all of 15 minutes."

I got there and was in for another surprise. I was not approved for the contract terms... I was approved with a MUCH higher deductable or had to have a co-signer. I was lied to - and seriously misled as to having a vehicle! I kept demanding to have copies of everything I had signed and they still only gave me a few pages of the paperwork and not all of it. I started to get vocal - and the guy automatically jumped up and said ok well then we'll return you your car and that will be it! So this went back and forth - I kept telling him that he lied to me and he said "Ma'am, I am trying to help you, but you have to let me... I save these types of deals all of the time." Um - Hello! Apparently I'm not the only person this has happened to?!? Well we talked more and I explained to him. I am a single parent. I do not have anyone to co-sign and will not be able to provide such a high down payment - how in the world could he possibly salvage the deal!?

They ended up taking me from the middle of the floor to a room where we could close the door instead of others having to hear me rant! He said, we'll see what exactly we can do - thats when the General Manager (I assume they weren't lying to me about that) showed up and he explained he was the one that originally wrote my deal up. What it comes down to - they did not sell me a new car. The "general manager" said to give him through Monday to work on it, but it sounds more to me like they were trying to get rid of me so they didn't have to deal with me anymore.

We will see on Monday just how far they get to even being able to finance me. Tell everyone you know to be aware before even attempting to purchase and - do themselves a favor - either do not drive the car off of the lot or do not sign the Conditional sale and delivery agreement!
Once you do - if they do not get you financed, then you may be held liable for $50/day rental fee as well as excessive mileage fees and can take it out of any deposit money you put down if they want to!
Buyers Beware!
