My Son took all his savings to purchase a Saturn Coupe from Phil Long - Denver of Saturn. We felt if he bought a car from a reputable dealer that they would be honest enough to disclose any major problems with the car.
They assured us that we were getting a great value for my sons money. They assured us that the car had had a 66 point inspection and all looked good.
The sticker in the window said that the car had had a 66 point CERTIFIED inspection which included correct operation of all major vehicle systems. Proper engine performance under varied conditions and several other things also were included.
My son had his car for a total of two weeks. He was driving home when his car stopped running and smoke started pooring out under the hoodWe had it towed home with antifreeze and oiling pooring out from under the hood.
I called Saturn of Denver since we had signed a contract with them stating that we could return the car if we had it less then 30 days and under 1500 miles.
So I called to see what could be done and was told by Chris Stevens the manger over used cars that we voided our contract when the car came back with more thatn $300.00 in damage.
I ask him how they could miss a engine problem like that if it had had a certified inspection. He answer was sorry.
Boy are we ever sorry. We thought we were dealing with a reputable dealer and that the extra money we spent on the car was worth it.
That was the biggest Joke. My son has no more money to fix this car and no way to get a job to get it fixed with. He spent $5300.00 on the car only to be told that it will take another $4200.00 to put a new engine in it. They say that a piston went through the block.
So much for trying to teach my son that honesty is the best policy. I guess he has learned a valuable lesson.
