I purchased a brand new Saturn Vue in 2003 with no miles on it.in 2006 my engine went out as well as my transmission. Saturn was using VTI transmissions in their vehicles and they were having probelms with them. I never received notification of the problems with the transmissions.
When my engine went out I had to pay $2,065 out of my pocket to have it replaced. I was told by the mechanic that the reason the engine went out is because the transmission is "junk". I contacted Saturn of Toledo and they told me to bring the car in to have the transmission looked at. Leon, the service manager, told me that the transmission was fine.
Later that day my car broke down. I had it towed to Saturn of Toledo and they looked at it again. Then they changed their minds and decided to tell me that they are having problems with these VTI transmissions and they extended the warranty to 75k miles. I never recieved any notification of this at at all.
I brought my car in to have the transmission replaced. I picked up my car after the repair confident that my car would be running properly. I got half way home and my car broke down in the middle of a very busy street. I had it towed back to Saturn of Toledo. The service manager, Leon, told me that they forgot to do something when putting the transmission back in. But he fixed it right this time and everything would be fine.
Since this has happened I contacted two reputable auto shops in the Toledo area and they have told me the same thing, yes a transmission that is not working correctly will cause an engine to go out. I contacted Saturn Corp. And filed a complaint asking for my $2,065 back to cover the cost of the engine. They contacted Leon at Saturn of Toledo to verify and he told them that my engine didnt go out because of the transmission.
HE LIED! Therefore, I was denied a refund. Very recently I met with FRANK KISTLER, the owner of the Saturn dealerhship. He was rude and has no regard for his customers. I was good enough in 2003 when I spent $23,000 on a car there. But when I went there to discuss the problems with his service team he did not want to hear anything I had to say. He told me that I was being unreasonable and he insulted me. He wanted to sell me a new car and when I refused he wasnt hearing anything else.
This man owns a car dealership and doesnt care about his customers. He only cares about making money. He was telling me I was "wasting his time". He isnt "going to do anything for me". Do not purchase a vehicle from this scum bag! He does not care about anything but himself and does not stand behind the product he is selling. Do not buy a saturn vue with a vti transmisson. They are junk and will go out.
