I own a 2003 saturn Vue... With the VTI transmission. My brother and wife bought this car new and at about 35,000 miles had problems with the transmission. The saturn dealer replaced some parts under warrenty and said it was fixed. At about 80,000 miles the transmission was making a noise and left his wife on the middle of the road stuck. My brother faught with the dealer and got them to help him even after the 75,000 mile warrenty was up, but mind you it was a fight! Now i have bought the car at 103,000 miles at this point unaware of the problems of this transmission.
My brother was unaware of the many others who have had the same problems with the VTI transmission. My car is at 122,660 and the transmission was making a noise... Like others i think change the fluid... So i spend 50.65 on the fluid and 12.39 on the additive. Ran good for about 30 miles and the car left me on the middle of the road... Stuck!!!
I first towed the car to the saturn dealer to have it looked at. 85.00 for them to tell me what was wrong. Well they did not give me a printed report instead got it written down on a piece of paper. Said i needed the top end cover and pump assembely replaced... 4800.00. I said thats crazy, how much for a new transmission. Reply 5900.00. Neither of these will fix the problem with that VTI transmission. So i say, how about we change the transmission to one that is not VTI... Reply 7-8,000.00.
At this point i call saturn corp., they take my info and say someone will contact me by noon the next day. So i go get a rental car out of my own pocket 200.00. I get the call at about 10am they tell me "saturn will not help me with this problem" i am in shock... How can saturn have awards on customer service and satifaction with this attitude. I made offers to pay for half and they pay half reply..."saturn will not help me with this problem" i say how about i fix this problem and saturn help me with a trade in..."saturn will not help me with this problem"
Now i have hit this BRICK WALL like all others with this VTI transmission. Saturn corp. I am a single dad and make very little extra money. This hit me all on my daughters birthday weekend. You know this transmission is bad!!! You know the right thing to do is to be responsible and help YOUR customers! I am still looking for a solution to this problem. HELP me someone i am stuck.
