A Little story to help you decide what to do when it comes to SubLeaseing you car to someone.
So I put my car up for sale or lease takeover... I get several interested parties but no actual buyers. About the 3rd day it was listed I get an email from a guy called the subleaseking and he states in his one line sentence "Iam interested in taking your lease over call me stan" (I am leaving out his number so he doesn't disconnect it yet). I call him and he proceeds to enlist me in the belief that subleasing is the way to a financial resolution I am looking for! I am so desperate to get out of this huge payment I am in on a car I don't even drive and can no longer afford that I am willing to believe anything at this point!
Some time passes and all of a sudden this guy is not calling me back, I think he's lost interest in my car but I give him one last call to say I want to do the sub-lease he said he had a customer for. Well later that night... After 8pm a guy named "Mike" calls me and says "can you bring the car to West Hollywood right now? I would like to see it so I can get my customer into by tomorrow!" Now it's dark out so what can they really see at night I think? I am starting to wonder if these guys are for real (but I am still feeling desperate so I continue the conversation trying to understand who this guy Mike is and what happened to Stan?)
Several days later after asking repeatedly for a contract to review I am sent via the fax a 19 page contract that seems official enough but really just says all the things they have promised me over the phone. I.E.; we will give you a deposit before the car is picked up and there will be a tracking device on the car, we will make the payments to the leasing company for you etc, etc. I sent the car to the dealership to let everyone look at it (including the buyer and agent "Mike") my service advisor calls me and says "I am very reluctant to give the keys to these people... They don't seem right" I of course say... It's ok they are just looking at the car! Two days later at closing time a woman shows up at the dealership and asks for the car. A person who I do not know at the dealer goes and gets the car for her because they are under the impression this was all set up days before.
Not one contract was signed by me or any money exchanged... The payment date comes and goes with no payment. I call Mike and ask for the deposit of $6000.00 in cash I was promised. He tells me I will get it to you in approx a couple of weeks.
At this point I realize that I may have been scammed (yeah I'm stupid) and notify the car company of my stupidity they apparently are able to track the vehicle somehow. Within less than one month the leasing company decides it's a scam and collects the car while some guy is driving it who claimed to be me. Someone had tinted the windows and put aftermarket wheels and tires on it which in the Luxury Cars contract said that no modifications to the vehicle would be allowed. So the leasing company charged me for the stock wheels that were lost. The person that was listed on the contract was no where to be found! The guy driving my car... Who knows who he was... He disappeared!
Needless to say... I was very lucky! The leasing company decided to keep the car and charged me for everything citing I had misled them and given my car away to unscrupulous individuals. So with my Credit Ruined, No car and a big bill to pay off, I would say that trust in these kinds of people has been certainly lost!
Even if everyone in this situation is legitimate... It was a very bad deal for me and I highly recommend not using this company based on my experiences!
Trust me when I say... SUBLEASING is NOT the way to go!!!
Info on Luxury Cars and Exotics: When I checked with the state of California they stated that there was no such company registered in California. This company seems to have subrented a business office from someone else at the address they list on their site and have a screening service for all their calls. There is no listing for them at the physical address on Wilshire Blvd and when I asked about Luxury Cars And Exotics with the building management they stated they had never heard of them.
There is much more to this whole story but in my opinion this is a very deceptive company! But it's just my opinion!
