My wife and I had bought a Ford F-150, FX4 package, with standard engine 4.6. Beautiful vehicle for 33K, thought we had a great deal - until.
The first morning the vechile would not start, I ran the battery very low. Then called Ford to have it towed, in the interim while waiting I gave it one more chance and it fired up and ran well all day. No problems.
The second morning, I went out to start it and started like it should. Brand New!
Low and behold the third morning, my wife asked me to see if the truck would start for she was going to her mothers and there would be no one to help me if it didn't start. You got it, failed to start again. Called Ford Roadside again to have it towed to dealer. Tow truck driver calls me and said Ford only pays him 15 miles, well we live 48 miles away, I told him I don't care I'll pay the rest and deal with Ford later, most important the vehicle get there. This is on a saturday, will have to wait til monday. They gave me a loaner.
BY this time my confidence pertaining to this vehicle has gone. No matter what they do I would never be able to trust this truck again. Mechanic starts to work on it and it wont start nor will it turn over. After an hour or so they find the problem. It seems Ford had issued a bulletin on all ford trucks with the 4.6 engine that they will not start below 0. Well as it may be we live in the frozen tundra. At present Ford is working on the problem. Don't you think We should of been notified of this problem prior to buying, because if I had known we would not have bought it.
Problem identified, I told dealer lets deal on another vehicle. What a joke. The new ford had 130 miles on it and we paid 33k cash and trade (no balance). There offer of insult was $9,000.00 more for another vehicle. You have an idea what I did next
I went to a Dodge dealer and bought a new Dodge from where I have always purchased before. As I see it Ford owes my wife and I what we paid in difference and the 5 days lost work for doing the running around.
Surely the dealer could have made it right but he chose not to. His offer was to put a block heater in it. I said what if i'm in a olace that doesn't have one to plug in, "He said, Your S%O%L%", I guess I have a Florida truck, unfornately I don't live there. Additionally, he suggested I carry a battery so I may jump start it when it wont start. Ha Ha Ha
