Watson Chevy, Buick, Pontiac
Cadillac will not back-up repairs

3 weeks ago I bought a 1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon from Watson Buick. The car was sold to me as an AS-IS car for $6500, (AS-IS meaning there is NO warranty on the car.) I was made to believe the car was a 1 owner car serviced at that dealer and purchased at that dealer originally. I truly bought it! When we reached a price agreement i went outside to phone my wife. When i stood near the car i noticed that it was leaking oil from the rear axle.

I then told my salesman that i would NOT be purchasing the car unless the leak was fixed. He obliged and took the car to get fixed by the service dept.
Where it was found that the pinion bering seal was bad.

About a half hour later he returned and told me that the repair would take all day. And offered me $50 off the car instead of me waiting for the repair, knowing that you cant even get an oil change for $50 anymore, i said that i would wait for the repair even if it did take all day.

Two days later, I came out of work and found a puddle under the rear end of my car. I called my salesman, who told me to bring it back in as soon as i could. (the dealer is almost 70mi away from me)

The following thursday i drove back to watson and let their service dept look at it. The service advisor then tried to accuse me of adding more oil to the rear-end! After about 2 hours of them driving it and fixing a botched alignment (that i paid cash for). They declared it fixed and the puddle i had seen must have been residual that was left over from the leak.

Fast forward to about a week and a half later.
My wife and i are on the way home from wal-mart and we start hearing a loud roaring noise from the rear end. I immediately dropped the car off at our local rear end specialist, i was thinking "wheel bering".. No big right?
The next day i was told by my mechanic that the noise was the pinion bering.

And the reason that it was bad was because the nut on the rear pinion shaft was over tightend when the seal was put in, and because of that the berings were smashed... And it was leaking again!

I called my salesman, whom told me he would have the service manager call me. And 15 min later i was contacted by Jim Brown the manager, when i explained to him my problem. He said that he would see what he can do an call me back. But if i could bring it in he would look at it and that would be better. (The car was not driveable)

A day and a half and no word from him. I left multiple voice mails and numbers including the one for the shop my car was at.

Finally i got fed up and called the service advisor that was involved. Whom told me that what my mechanic said was impossible and that i bought the car as is so they wont fix anything. (i wont go into detail on the phone call suffice to say he was very rude).

Very Angry at this point i called the General Manager the next day. And explained alll that had happened. He told me he would speak to jim brown and the tech but there was probably nothing he could do. Being as i bought the car as is.

Never heard from him again.

I understand what AS-IS means... I have bought many cars like that. BUT, when a repair is part of the deal i expect it fixed right the first time. And if it is not... Dont try to dodge me. Just make it right. My salesman was Brian Petrusick (sp) and I would by a car off of him in a heart beat. But i wouldn't set foot in this dealer again for anything.
