United Dodge
Shares confidential credit information with strangers

Recently, I purchased a used vehicle from United Dodge. After being told by the finance company that the deal was complete, I received the first piece of disturbing news. The vehicle I purchased was a trade in, and the gentleman that traded in the vehicle couldn't get approved for his loan. We had to take back the truck. Then while at the dealership, we were told by not just one employee but two of why the gentleman's loan did not go through.

The dealership stated they wanted to make it right. They started to show us new, more expensive vehicles. That is where I believe a form of the old bait and switch routine came in. They started asking how much more we would be willing to pay a month, and could we come up with $1600 down. We had already agreed on a deal and had been approved. When we stuck to our guns, they lost any interest in helping us.

While all this was going on, they shared another bit of confidential information with us. A family member had traded in a vehicle a couple of months prior. They also shared with us the reason that particular family member (not of the same household) was denied credit.

One last thing shared with us by this talkative staff. If a dealer says they are losing money on a deal... They are lying. They are only losing money on the front end. Management will not let deals go through that actually cost the dealership money. How else would they stay in business?
