Glenbrook Dodge Hyundai
Ipoff dishonest fraudulent sales

My husband and I were looking to buy a newer used vehicle. I called one company and they told me that we were approved and that we needed to come in and "get the ball rolling". Once we got there they wanted 1/2 down and the financing wasn't going through. So, we left and continued on our search. After hearing a commercial on the radio for Glenbrook Dodge we decided to give them a try.

We started out on March 17 calling them and spoke with a very nice salesman Chris. He said that we were in luck that we had called that day because the finance man from the bank was on site and that we would know almost instantly if we were approved, so that we didn't have to run all the way up there and find out we couldn't get approved like we did last time.

About 30 minutes later we got a call from Chris and he said we were approved and that we could come and pick the vehicle out. We got there and Chris said he had two specific vehicles in mind. One was a 2006 and one was a 2004 Chrysler Town and Country, which is what we opted for. My husband went in to sign the papers (as my name wasn't put on the loan).

Glenbrook Dodge agreed to payoff the current vehicle that we owned and give us $1000 as a down payment toward the Town & Country. We also paid $100.00 cash down to offset some of the fees. The paperwork was signed and the van was pulled up next to our trade-in. Chris told us that we could start transferring our belongings from our old vehicle to our new one. He also added, "See, I told you that I would get you financed, I don't want anybody mad at me."

With that we drove away in what we thought to be our new vehicle. We got a call about a week later saying that they needed more information about our income which we promptly drove 45 minutes to give them. Then approximately a week after that, the finance man, Casey, said that the bank would not be able to accept what we gave them and requested another form.

This time, March 28, I faxed it to him, seeing as how gas is almost $3.00 per gallon. We called to confirm that he received and he said he had. On April 17th we received a letter from the financial company that stated that we were not approved for the vehicle loan because of incomplete application. On the 18th of April, Casey called us to tell us that he really needed more information about our income and when we told him that we had faxed it to him several weeks ago, he acted like he had no prior knowledge of this.

He then told us to go ahead and bring the documents in again and he would get it worked out. We asked if we could fax it to him (again because of gas price) and Casey told us that he could put some gas in our tank for making the trip in. No problem. When we got to the dealershipon April 19th, we were told that we had taken too long to bring the documents in and there was nothing else they could do and that they were taking the van back.

So, we were stranded with no vehicle 45 minutes away from home with my 18 month old daughter and 4 year old son. And they had already sold our old van so there was no way we could get that back. So, the dealership told us there was a small dealership behind them that would be able to take care of us. Buy here, Pay here. Our only option because we have no relatives nearby.

The smaller dealership was friendly and swore that they had no affiliation with Glenbrook Dodge over and over again. They apologized for the hard time that we had been given and offered a van to us. And because we had very little choice we took it. Glenbrook Dodge did agree and signed an agreement that the balance of the old van that we had traded in and they sold would be paid off and that they would forward the $100.00 cash that we had given them to the smaller dealership to be applied toward the loan that they were giving us.

So, we'll be paying $90.00 per week for 3 years for a 1999 Plymouth Voyager with over 100,000 miles. The thing is, this smaller dealership that swore they were not affiliated with Glenbrook Dodge is a dba of Glenbrook Dodge. I only realized it as I was going through the paperwork again after I got home. So, no matter what way you look at it, Glenbrook Dodge is getting my money one way or another. Isn't that a kick in the head? Beware of this company!!
