Has your wheel fallen off lately? Tomball

First off, check out this website...

If the site is no longer valid, I have copied and pasted the entire story below.

I have had this same thing happen to me, although I heard the noise that my car was making before I left the parking lot. I immediately went back inside and they "fixed" my car. If they can't do the simple things, what makes us think that they are "Experts"???

When youre driving down the road, you never expect your four-wheeler to turn into a three-wheeler.

But thats exactly what happened to Eddie Avalar Monday night.

Avalar was driving his SUV on the Sam Houston Tollway when his rear drivers side tire fell off and struck three other cars.

He felt his vehicle drop down, then he saw his wheel pass him on the Parkway. Then it bounced over the dividing wall and struck three vehicles, Precinct 4 Captain Mark Herman said.

Three people were injured, one of them critically.

Avalar says the trouble started at Domestic Auto Experts.

He said he took his SUV there for maintenance earlier in the day.

The company keeps a Webcam so customers can see their cars in the shop.

Investigators are using that footage to determine if Avalars wheel flew off because the lug nuts were left loose.

The passenger side, the rear tire, they were just able to undo the lug nuts. It seemed someone spun the lug nuts on but didnt crank them down and tighten them out, Herman said.

The Vice President at Domestic Auto Experts said theyre conducting an internal investigation of the incident.

The companys CEO issued a statement Tuesday afternoon.

We have exacting standards in place to insure that all repairs are performed in a safe and professional manner. This is something we take very seriously and this matter is and will remain a top priority, the statement read.

For now, Avalar is sticking to his motorcycle. He says he knows those two tires will stay right where they belong.

Since we are on the topic, a very good friend of mine used to actually be a mechanic there at the store in Humble. He told me that if you go to a lot of the consumer websites out there, you will find nice reviews of the business. Turns out, those reviews are from an outside company and are paid for. What kind of business has to pay for a company to post nice things about them? Must be a company that has something to hide...
