HSBC Auto
Insurance scam, rip off, harrassment, auto finance, liars Nationwide

My husband purchased a Truck in 06, and we ended up using HSBC Auto as our lender.

Everything seemed fine, we made our payments on time, until I discovered a $20 extra fee on our bill starting in Feb 07. I phoned HSBC auto and asked them what they fee was. They stated the fee was added because we had not shown them proof of insurance. I argued this with them over the course of 3 months, and it culminated in them removing the charges.

In July 07 I called HSBC and asked them for help because we were in a financial bind having just moved states. Ford Credit had given me a 3 month break of no payments on my mini van, and I hoped HSBC Auto would do the same. They stated they could ONLY give my husband a 1 month deferment, for August, that was all they were allowed to do. We took the 1 month, and in Spetmeber went back to paying our $470 a month.

In December 07 I started receiving phone calls stating we owed them money for car inusrance that they had taken out on the truck. I told them we had insurance and that I did not need their insurance. I sent proof via fax to them. The calls kept coming, starting at 8am, and going all day until 9pm. At the time they stated we owed them $55.

Some of the people I talked to said it was a misunderstaning and that our account would be credited and we should just keep making our monthly payment.

January 08 the phone calls kept coming, I had Geico fax them the insurance.
Ting the calls, sometimes up to 15 times a day.

I then get a call mid February stating we were 37 days past due on the account. I was shocked, I had made my Payment for February. Come to find out, they never gave us the deferment in August 07, even though they stated they did, and every months payment from then on was applied to the previous month.

I was furious! I am still furious.

March 08, I am still receiving calls every day, between 4 or 15 times a day about the supposed car insurance. They sent me a letter in Feb 08 saying they had finally received my car insurance note, even though I had faxed it at least 8 times and Geico had faxed it, emailed it and sent it.

Today, I get a phone call once again asking for the insurance money, which has now gone up to $250 owed. I told them I was NEVER going to pay them that money. That I make my monthly payments on time, but I am not paying for insurance they took out, that is not in my name when I have my own insurance.

All this time Ford Credit has NEVER called me about insurance on my mini van.

The woman told me that I should think about my children and what a bad parent I was, because by not paying I jeopardize THEIR future and I wont be able to help them out when they need me. That I should be ashamed for not paying the $250, that it will affect my credit and thats a terrible thing to do as a parent. My poor children are suffering.

I told her I would be refinancing the truck with another company, to which she laughed and said, "good luck" with that!"

I am at my wits end.

These people have no shame. They call you repeatedly. One rep will say one thing, another rep will state soemthing completly different. They laugh at you, they verbally berate you. They ignore facts that are presented, they ignore paperwork sent, all because it means they can make an extra $.

They report you to the credit companies when they have no cause to.

They manipulate the truth to suit their own needs. The people who work for them and are involved in these practices should be ashamed of themselves.

I dont really know where to go from here or what to do now. I will NEVER pay them the $250 for the bogus insurance. I fear they will just come and take the truck in the middle of the night with our personal belognings inside with no word.

Please, do NOT use this company. It will just cause you heart ache, and earache from 15 calls a day!
