System Computer Damage when it went in for Transmission

Transmission went out in my car; an accepted fact. Had the RAV 4 at two other service supplier before taking to Cottman. Both very reliable and honest. I can confirm through them that my auto's system computer was reading and working fine. Rather than risk further damage, I had the car towed on a flat bed from each provider. Other than short test drives the car was not driven. When it got to Cottman I was told the computer system was totally dead and they couldn't even get a reading and that my transmission had a busted drum.

This after the previous service providers had told me exactly what readings were coming up. They then proceeded to tell me Toyota Knew about the problem and had even extended the warranty but I was outside the mileage. I have never had a complaint about Toyota and this is my second. The transmission I accepted because I failed to do proper maintenance, but the computer was just fine until they got hold of it.

My $1500 to $2000 job turned into almost $3400. I told them to pack it up and I was sending someone to pick it up. They then told me I owed them $350 for the diagnostic (yes they took my transmission apart). The point is I have searched Toyota all over the web, never was there a single mention of an extended warranty or that the computer was bad and caused transmission problems ONLY O2 sensory false readings.

The first complaint I read on this site was a woman, well so am I and I am sick and tired of being ripped off by service providers. I will pay the $350 to get my car back, but I have already called the Magistrates office and both Service technicians that had my car previously. And lastly I was talking about the situation at work and a co-worker came up and told me HIS story about how he took his car there and his computer suddenly went dead as well, 8 months later his auto was finally driveable.
I would like to hear if anyone else had their computer suddenly die at Cottman. Its my understanding this is a very easy and undetectable thing to do to a car.
