My transmission blew up on 2/12/04 I took it to cottman for repairs. The total price was 2,447.43. The transmission was running fine until 4/12/04 on this day I heard a very loud banging and grinding sound in the transmission. I called cottman on the same day and they told me to bring it up right away, so I brought it back the same day I heard the noise.
They said they found nothing wrong with the transmission, but said the cooling lines were worn and needed to be replaced. I authorized them to do the repair. That cost me another 137.80.
On 5/9/04 my van would not start. So I called a local garage to come to my house and tow the van to there shop. Upon inspection the mechanic said the flywheel was cracked and the fly wheel sensor was destroyed. The mechanic there said it was due to the transmission. The price for that visit was 85.00 plus 70.00 for towing. I contacted cottman and explained the problem. They told me I had to have it towed up to there shop. We agreed we would split the towing charges. This was on Monday 4/10/04. I had to rent a car at the price of 230.00 a week it has been 9 days, and still have no van. Cottman said I will have to pay 185.00 for the new repair. New flywheel and sensor that the transmission caused to fail. I feel I am being ripped off. They never contacted the extended warranty company to have an adjuster come to the shop to authorize the repairs. Because this link was broken I was responsible to pay for the towing and rent a car. They charged me for parts to repair the problem but no labor. And they claim it was not the transmission fault that this happened
